San Diego, Salt Lake City, Qingdao China and Back

I had a pretty awesome traveling job that I was pumped about shooting.  It took me to San Diego, Salt Lake City, and Qingdao China.  I had the pleasure of working with Kile Brekke, the senior designer over at Curran & Connors Inc. again.  He's a real cool guy with some amazing talent.  The concept was simply shooting portraits of specific people that work with Varian (the client) in a way that shows their location they are at.  Here is the finished product.

TV Commercial for Enterhealth

I shot and directed this TV Commercial that is playing now for Enterhealth recently.  It was a very complicated but fun shoot.  As you can tell it is a time-lapse, which is basically thousands of photos put together to make a video.  The tough part was getting the "passing of time" look.  Though you can't tell as much in the final edit, the shadow of the ice cube moves the entire time to appear as though the sun was rising and setting. There were other obstacles we had to conquer like the consistent timing of ice cubes melting, making the Enterhealth logo inside of a large ice cube, capturing interesting things happening inside the cube, ect. Couple all of that with my amazing editor Dustin Bailey and you've got what you see here.

D Mag - Nurses

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with 6 of the best nurses in Dallas on this one.  It was so cool hanging out and talking with them about what they do.  I love learning other peoples stories, its so interesting to me.  All six of these nurses were amazing people and extremely dedicated to what they do.  Dallas you are in good hands.

It was a pleasure working with you:  Nergis Blood, Audrey Ayres, Megan Linker, Carole Inman, Daiwai Olson and the cutest little nurse I've ever met Lee Lee Lee (yes that is her name).

A funny side note:  That is my sisters arm being "bandaged" by nurse Nergis, in the opening image.  She was pretty excited about that.

Texas Monthly - Saddle Shop

I love shooting jobs that I am able to meet interesting people and see how they work.  This was definitely one of those.  Richard Oliver and his two sons are running a Saddle shop that has been in the family for almost 100 years.  The saddles they make are amazing!  They take a minimum of a week to actually make (though the waiting list is about 10 months for them to start on it, right now), and that is working on the same saddle everyday, all day.   I loved sitting around the shop with them watching the craftsmen work the plane leather straps into a piece of art.   If you have a minimum of $4,000 and want a gorgeous one of a kind saddle, give them a hollar (www.oliversaddle.com).

Mark Cuban

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Mark Cuban for the Wall Street Journal.   I knew I probably wouldn't have much time with Mark, so I had two different sets up and tested on assistants.  I was wondering what "Mark" I was going to be getting.  Sometimes on TV he is pretty loud and in your face, and other times on Shark Tank he seems very easy going and kind even.  Turns out I got the kind and patient Mark, which I was thankful for.  We talked about Shark Tank, our kids and the Mavericks, it was really cool.  I got three different looks with him in about 15 minutes and we were done.  I do really like the image that WSJ picked.  It was a great experience.
